PSG Crowned French Champions After Victory at Lens

par Johann Macq

Paris Saint-Germain officially secured another French league title (their 14th) after a controlled 2-0 victory away to RC Lens in the always electric atmosphere of the Bollaert stadium.

In front of a loyal and passionate Lens crowd, Luis Enrique’s men displayed the confidence of a team fully aware of its strength, capable of controlling key moments and striking with efficiency. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia opened the scoring in the 29th minute before Ibrahim Mbaye sealed the win deep into stoppage time (90’+3).

This success rewards an outstanding season for the club from the French capital, which is now focused on an even bigger objective: retaining its European crown in the Champions League final against Liverpool on May 31 in Budapest.

Luis Enrique, the Architect of Paris’ Success

PSG needed one final effort to officially secure the title, and the Parisians did not falter. However, the trip to Lens represented a real challenge. In a stadium renowned for its fiery atmosphere, Paris had to show character to avoid any unpleasant surprises.

Beyond the title itself, this season above all highlights the success of the project implemented by Luis Enrique. Arriving with the ambition of transforming PSG’s identity, the Spanish coach has gradually imposed his football philosophy and collective demands on the squad.

Long criticized for inconsistency and an overreliance on individual brilliance, the Parisian club now appears to have found remarkable balance. Luis Enrique’s PSG looks more coherent, tactically disciplined, and above all far more team-oriented.

The Spanish manager has also succeeded in revitalizing several players while integrating new talents into the squad. Kvaratskhelia has become one of the team’s key figures, not to mention Ballon d’Or winner Dembélé.

This ability to continue improving the squad after an already exceptional campaign last season has been one of the major satisfactions of PSG’s year. Since last season, Paris has developed a genuine football identity.

All Eyes on Budapest

Barely had the title celebrations begun before attention turned to the most anticipated match of the season: the Champions League final against Liverpool on May 31 in Budapest.

PSG will have the opportunity to retain its European title and definitively confirm its status among the continent’s elite clubs. Against the Reds, however, the Parisians will face a challenge of an entirely different intensity.

Liverpool’s pressing, attacking pace, and relentless intensity will represent a major test for Luis Enrique’s side.

But Paris heads into the final with strong arguments of its own. In Budapest, PSG will now face its destiny. After conquering France, the Parisians are determined to prove that they also reign supreme in Europe.
